About Me
Hi, I’m Chad Shimaitis, and I’m running for Port Aransas City Council Place 1! My family and I have called Port Aransas home since 2018, and we have loved becoming a part of this incredible community. I’m ready to step up and serve further to ensure that Port Aransas remains a great place to live!

Proven Leadership
As Chair of the Port Aransas Planning & Zoning Commission and with service on the Comprehensive Plan Committee, Sign Ordinance Committee, and Building Code Review Committee, I have firsthand experience shaping responsible growth and development policies. I understand the complexities of zoning, infrastructure, and long-term planning, and I am committed to ensuring that Port Aransas remains a thriving and well-managed community.
I’m committed to supporting Port A in meaningful ways. As the co-founder of the Marlin Legacy Foundation, I’ve worked to help keep more local tax dollars in our schools. I care deeply about this community and want to continue working on policies that benefit residents, families, and businesses, ensuring Port Aransas remains a great place to live and work.

I’m a hands-on small business owner and builder, and I understand the challenges of operating in Port A. My experience has given me a deep understanding of our local economic needs, the importance of smart development, and how city policies impact both residents and businesses.
